Vesuvius Volcano in Italy

We hiked Vesuvius, the mountain that spewed volcanic ash and covered Pompei and Herculanium in 79 AD. Below are some pictures of the volcano. One side of the mountain blew out. The volcano is not dead and can erupt again.

Flowers covered the mountain. They look like lupines.

A not-so-stable fence separates us from the volcano edge.
